The name of this ministry was born from this picture and the Parable of the Lost Sheep.
Luke 15:3-7,
"...Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' I tell you that in the same way there is more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent"

Shawn and Lynn Springer bring a unique combination of experience to the field of prison ministry. Shawn's personal perspective as one who has been there, along with Lynn's advanced education and training, combined with her 30+ years of experience in jail/prison ministry, provides a depth of insight and wisdom rarely found in a much needed field of outreach.
Already at work in the Marion County Jail in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Madison County Jail in Anderson, Indiana, and the Indiana Women's Prison, they are seeking to expand their ministry into other institutions. Lynn has been working with juvenile offenders since 1987, particularly with juveniles remanded to the adult system. In 2009, she became a volunteer chaplain a the Indiana Women's Prison. In 2011, Shawn answered God's call to come back inside, returning to school to prepare himself for ministry. He joined Shepherd's Heart in 2013. His desire is to preach, teach and disciple adult men to become devoted followers of our Lord, leading them to the One who can redeem their lives, as his own life has been redeemed.
Shawn and Lynn have a deep seated passion to reach people in our own society that most folks simply want to throw away. Please pray with us that God will raise up people who can help meet these needs and send this uniquely qualified couple to some very lost and lonely people.
