As a jail chaplain, I hand out a lot of Bibles, and often to people who have never read one before. I share some places they should start to read and encourage them to write down any questions they may have so we can talk about it later. IF they write down their questions, there are usually only about 2 or 3. But yesterday I had "J" in my office. He had a whole list:
1. Who wrote the Bible?
2. Where in the Bible does it talk about the end of the world?
3. Can I keep this Bible?
4. Do you believe God and Jesus is the same?
5. Who was God talking to when he said let us make human beings?
6. I thought Adam and Eve was the first humans made.
7. Where in the Bible does it talk about God kicking the devil from heaven?
8. Is Joseph Jesus’ dad?
9. Where do it say in the Bible honor your mother and father?
10. Where do it say that if you believe Jesus died for our sins we going to heaven?
11. Why come God don’t show his self nowadays like he used to?
12. Why did God put the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the Garden, if he knew they was gonna eat from it, why he not want us to eat from it? Is that why we have knowledge of good and evil?
13. So do we have to do everything right to get into the narrow gate?
14. Where did all these diseases come from?
15. Why do we get circumcised?
16. Why did they do burnt sacrifices back in the day?
17. Why did Abraham want Isaac to marry a relative? Ain’t that nasty?
